Rajput Students: Reality of Seats and the Need for Excellence

India offers nearly 16 lakh engineering seats every year across government institutions, central/state universities, deemed universities, and private colleges. Out of this, about 7 lakh seats fall under the Open (General/UR) and EWS categories.

In IITs, there are approximately 19,000 seats, but only around 9,000 seats are available under the Open category. Within this pool, Rajput students often face hidden barriers, and only 500–1000 students or fewer manage to secure admission each year.

Similarly, in medical education, out of 2,00,000 total seats, only about 1,00,000 seats are unreserved. In government medical colleges, barely 500 Rajput students succeed annually. Private colleges demand very high fees, and even when Rajput families are ready to pay, systemic obstacles often prevent entry.

The EWS quota, though presented as support, is largely filled by other communities (Muslim, Christian, Brahmin, Kayasth, Jain, etc.), reducing opportunities for Rajput students. Government data rarely reflects the true picture, as caste identity can only be verified through certificates, not surnames.

Rajput students contribute significantly to the education system by paying high fees, which fund teacher salaries and subsidize reserved categories. Yet, despite India’s claim of being the third-largest GDP and military power, there is no direct financial support for Rajput students’ education.

📘 Why Scoring Above 75% is Necessary in 10th and 12th Class

• Eligibility for Competitive Exams: Exams like JEE, NEET, and NDA require minimum board marks. Scoring above 75% keeps Rajput students eligible.
• Better Admission Chances: With limited Open seats, higher marks increase the probability of selection.
• Strong Academic Foundation: Board exams test fundamentals in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, English, and Social Science.
• Career Pathways: Marks in 10th and 12th are considered in government jobs, private placements, and international opportunities.
• Confidence & Respect: High scores build self-confidence and prove Rajput students can compete globally.

Special Note: Since only ~9,000 IIT seats are available in the Open category and Rajput students face hidden barriers, scoring above 75% becomes a survival strategy. It is the minimum benchmark to stand out in counselling, interviews, and future career opportunities.
